History

In the 1920's, the Kirn family bought a farm in the village of Kamnik pod Krimom. Ivan, then master of the house, soon after opened a convenience store that was later during the WWII burnt down, but was promptly renovated and operated as the seat of the local agricultural cooperative until 1955. After that, Son Janez decided to continue the family tradition and expand into the catering business.

In 1957, the Kirn family opened a typical village inn. In those days, their main dish was deep-fried chicken, but locals and the numerous timber drivers also loved to tuck into hearty dishes such as tripe stew, goulash, chicken stew, polenta, various roasts or order a platter with "a little bit of everything". In the winter months, dishes made using fresh meat from local farmers were particularly popular.

In 1973, the inn was taken over by Janez's son of the same name. He married Majda, a girl from another family-run inn, and together they laid the foundations for an excellent restaurant that became popular far and wide.
